24i appoints Debbie Phillips as Chief Operating Officer to maintain a customer-driven focus at the heart of its digital transformation
A veteran of Ericsson/Red Bee Media, Virgin Media and Rackspace, Phillips brings extensive experience of successful organisational change to 24i as it increases focus on end-to-end solutions and TV as a Service.
Amsterdam, Netherlands, 23rd June May 2021 – 24i, the end-to-end video streaming expert, today announced that it has appointed Debbie Phillips to the role of Chief Operating Officer.
Debbie brings to the position a wealth of valuable experience in managing large teams within the streaming media industry, having spent more than ten years at Ericsson/Red Bee Media Services heading up Global Operations, as well as a previous role as Director of Operations for Virgin Media. More recently, she’s held leadership positions at Rackspace and in the data centre solutions business unit of global real estate company CBRE.
24i CEO Joachim Bergman commented: “In the past few years, 24i has evolved from a creator of front-end apps to a company that delivers end-to-end streaming services for both Pay TV and OTT companies. As we transition to a greater focus on fully operated streaming services, including our TV as a Service offering, it’s essential we keep the needs of our customers at the heart of our transformation. Debbie’s experience makes her the perfect person to drive this effort. I know she’ll help us get the very best out of our brilliant engineering teams who design, develop, quality assure and support our end-to-end offering so we can continue to super-serve our customers and their end-users.”
“I began my career working for a broadband service provider where I had customer service excellence more or less written into my DNA. Every role I’ve been in since has involved the delivery of high volume, high availability services at scale, to global customers and audiences. I’m looking forward to bringing the benefit of those experiences to the 24i team who already have a fantastic reputation for user experience excellence,” said Debbie Phillips.
“Today’s consumers have zero tolerance for video that buffers or content that’s unavailable. And if they’re not happy with a streaming service, it’s all too easy for them to switch to a rival provider. 24i’s end-to-end platform needs to have unrivalled availability so our OTT and Pay TV customers can continue to delight their audiences on every device,” she added.
“If my years of leading technology teams has taught me one thing, it’s that you can’t have happy customers if you don’t have happy people in your team. My role will be to ensure that the talented and multi-cultural teams at 24i are working together as one, putting our customers at the centre of our decision making. It's about helping the teams to enjoy what they do, collaborate effectively, and deliver a winning user experience to every consumer, on every device, every time they load a video application powered by 24i's solutions and services.”
Debbie will be based in the UK but will work with 24i staffacross Europe and the Americas: “I’m looking forward to getting out to meet ourteams and of course our customers. COVID-19 travel restrictions mean it’s notpossible from day one, but I’ve already started meeting the teams virtually andwill be travelling as soon as it's permitted.”
